A 7.8 magnitude earthquake that shook the south of Türkiye on Monday also affected areas of central and northwestern Syria, with thousands of victims, injuries and enormous destruction.
The earthquake was also felt in Lebanon, Cyprus, Jordan, Iraq, Palestine and Egypt.
The Turkish Minister of Energy and Natural Resources, Fatih Donmez, warned that this tragedy, which particularly affected the province of Kahramanmaras, also caused severe damage to ports and energy infrastructure in the southeast of the country.
