Budapest, Feb 7 (Prensa Latina)Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orban called on the leaders of the European Union (EU) and other countries to initiate substantive consultations on the review of sanctions against Russia.

This was announced by the press secretary of the head of the Hungarian government, Bertalan Havasi.

According to him, recently Orban took part in a video conference with his European counterparts in preparation for the EU summit, which will be held in Brussels on February 9-10.

On the issue of Ukraine, Orban again called for an immediate ceasefire and peace talks, as well as a substantive political discussion on the sanctions imposed by Brussels that destroy the European economy, Havashy said, quoted by MTI news agency.

The spokesman assured that along with Orban, the head of the European Council Charles Michel, the president of Bulgaria, the prime ministers of Poland, Belgium, Finland and Malta participated in the video conference.

According to him, the EU summit will discuss the conflict in Ukraine, the situation in the European economy and the fight against illegal immigration.
