The head of the sector in the interim government, Ali Hamie, approved exempting the entities from airport and port taxes, in order to circumvent the sanctions and the blockade imposed on Syria and get support to the neighboring nation.
Hamie confirmed that he contacted a number of private companies, willing to contribute to the removal of debris and reinforce the rescue efforts in Syrian territory.
In this context, the Lebanese government appointed a ministerial delegation to travel to Syria tomorrow for a series of meetings with officials to address humanitarian issues and the aftermath of the devastating earthquake.
At the same time, seven equipped vehicles departed through the Arida border point with members of the Lebanese Red Cross to contribute, together with the Syrian Red Crescent, to search for and evacuate survivors and victims.
On the same day, members of the Army and the Civil Defense left for the Syrian areas damaged by the earthquake, which caused more than 1,600 deaths and more than 1,449 wounded.
Also, young people from the northern town of Hermel started a donation campaign until Thursday, which includes food and medical supplies, tents and heating blankets.
Government authorities, ministers, organizations, political parties, MPs, religious leaders and the people reiterated the readiness of the country’s available logistical capabilities to serve the ongoing rescue efforts on Syrian territory.
