Díaz-Canel published a note from the Instituto Espacio para la Memoria (IEM) informing about the death of Szmukler.

Szmukler was member of the Buenos Aires Lawyers Association, defender of political prisoners, consultative president of the American Association of Jurists, member of the Council of the Judiciary, and member of the Justicia Legítima group, among other instances where he deployed his professional work and knowledge.
