Former President Mujica invited to trust in Colombia’s reforms

Bogota, Feb 15 (Prensa Latina) Former Uruguayan President Jose (Pepe) Mujica (2010-2015) invited the Colombian people to trust in the reforms proposed by the government of Gustavo Petro, the presidency confirmed today.

“Do not be afraid of the reforms”, said Mujica in a message to the Colombian people, sent yesterday in the context of the massive mobilization in this country in support of government initiatives for the proposed change in favor of the majorities.

Referring to the specific case of the discussion in the Congress of the Republic of the bill “Change towards a health for life”, the former president urged to do everything possible to achieve the social improvements that Colombia deserves.

“Do not be afraid of reforms. On the contrary, no government can do magic if its people do not understand it. Do what is possible in this formidable country you have, which does not deserve to have had such a bitter history in the last 60 years”, said the leader of the Popular Participation Movement, quoted by the Colombian presidency.

In his opinion, “health has to be for all and has to have a guarantee that it exists for all”, as well as education, because “they are not questions of left or right, they are elemental questions of mankind and human progress”.
