Significant work by Cuban medical brigade in Türkiye underscored

Havana, Feb 20 (Prensa Latina) More than 260 patients of various ages have been treated by the brigade of 32 Cuban collaborators, who traveled to Türkiye to provide medical care after the strong earthquakes on February 6, the Ministry of Public Health (MINSAP) reported on Monday.

According to a press release from the MINSAP, since they arrived here, the Cuban professionals from the Henry Reeve International Contingent of Specialized Physicians in Disaster Situations and Serious Epidemics have treated more than 260 patients of different ages, have done research work in towns, performed complex surgeries and attended to patients at intensive care units.

On Twitter, Cuban Foreign Minister Bruno Rodriguez noted the presence of Cuban physicians and technicians in Türkiye as an expression of solidarity after the tragedy caused by the earthquakes that shook the country.

Rodriguez pointed out that it is an expression of the feeling of solidarity from the Cuban people, the accompaniment and sympathy for the brother Turkish people at this time of affliction.

The brigade of Cuban collaborators is made up of 20 doctors and 11 specialists in nursing, epidemiology and service personnel, and they were stationed in the Necip Fazil Sehir Hospital, in the town of Buyukyapalak, Elbistan, Kahramanmaraş province, in the south-central part of the country.

Team Head Juan Carlos Dupuy, a clinical laboratory specialist, recently underscored that upon arrival in Türkiye, they started to take care of three patients in the intensive care unit, for which they were thanked by hospital authorities and those who coordinate medical attention to the victims in this area.
