Díaz-Canel rejects media campaigns of disinformation against Cuba

Havana, Feb 24 (Prensa Latina) Cuban President, Miguel Díaz-Canel, today rejected the destabilization and disinformation operations orchestrated against the Caribbean nation on digital platforms, by transnational corporations.

Through his Twitter account, the head of state shared a message from Foreign Minister Bruno Rodríguez, who denounced on this day the manipulation and double standards of the parent company of Facebook Meta, as well as his participation in disinformation campaigns against the island.

The president stressed on the social network that “the work of the Revolution has an entire people to defend it.”

According to the head of Cuban diplomacy, Meta ideologically biased his most recent report, in which he announced the removal of “unauthentic” accounts in Serbia, Cuba and Bolivia, allegedly linked to governments or political parties in power to spread its contents.

Rodríguez also pointed out that instead of using as an argument the derisory payment for advertising, a service that is inaccessible to Cuba due to the US blockade, Meta should explain its own “unauthentic” and biased behavior by allowing denigration, stigmatization and generating hate campaigns from Florida against the island.

Despite the attempts to censor our voice and make the truth invisible, Cubans will continue to defend our Revolution and its socialist system of social justice, also in the digital field against harassment and destabilizing operations, the foreign minister assured.
