Official media also announced that Algerian President Abdelmajid Tobboune, who is scheduled to visit Russia next May, received the Russian official.
The subject, together with the state of military collaboration, was discussed by the secretary of the Russian Security Council, Nikolai Patrushev, and the chief of the Algerian Army General Staff, General Said Chanegriha.
This visit represents for us the expression of the firm and frank will of the two countries to further strengthen the historic and strategic partnership that characterizes bilateral relations, particularly in the military sphere, the Algerian general was quoted as saying by the local press.
For his part, the Russian guest, who is traveling at the head of a large delegation, according to the Algerian Defense Ministry press release, revealed that Moscow is working ‘on strengthening relations’ between the two states.
The tone of the Algerian release is a reflection of the cooperation between the two states which, in terms of trade, reached three billion dollars last year despite the slowdown imposed on international relations by the Covid-19 pandemic.
