Foreign arrivals grow in Vietnam

Foreign arrivals grow in Vietnam

Hanoi, Mar 1 (Prensa Latina) Vietnam welcomed 1.88 million foreign tourists in the first two months of 2023, 36.6 percent more than in the same period of last year, according to official estimates released here today.

However, the figure represented only 60 percent of foreign travellers received in 2019, before the beginning of the Covid-19 pandemic, a report by the General Statistics Office said.

Of all the tourists received, the most (1.29 million) came from Asian nations, while 242,500 came from Europe, 186,300 from the Americas, 77,300 from Oceania and 4,300 from Africa.

Arrivals by air were also predominant, with 90.7 percent of the total (1.6 million), while 8.6 percent arrived by road and the remaining 0.7 percent by sea.

Vietnam aims to receive eight million foreign visitors this year, less than half of the 19 million it received in 2019.
