CARICOM considers energy transition collaboration as key issue

Georgetown, Mar 2 (Prensa Latina) Joseph Cox, Assistant Secretary-General of the Caribbean Community (CARICOM), on Thursday praised advances of the group's member states in the transition to sustainable energy and the significance of collaboration and innovation.

Cox assured at a regional workshop on resilience and clean energy held in Barbados that CARICOM Secretariat is deeply committed to such a collective purpose and also supports strategies to speed up investments regionally.

Caricom Today published on Thursday that Cox reaffirmed the Caribbean Development Bank (CDB)´s support to achieve the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs.

It also expressed, in turn, CARICOM’s attachment to the Accelerated Sustainable Energy and Resilience Transformation Framework 2030 (ASERT-2030) as a key initiative to move in such a direction in the region.

Plus, Cox turned the spotlight on the pressing need for strong legislative and regulatory mechanisms to underpin the development of competitive regional energy markets.
