Kazakhstan accelerates east-west goods transport

Astana, Mar 3 (Prensa Latina) Goods moving from Southeast Asia and China to Europe, or in the reverse direction, now take half as long as before to cross Kazakhstan's territory, the Kazakh government said today.

Transport duration on the Kazakh section of the International Trans-Caspian Transport Route (ITTR), also known as the central or intermediate corridor, was reduced from 12 days in 2021 to six in 2022 and will drop to five by the end of this year, officials said.

The journey from China to ports along the Georgian Black Sea coast was shortened from 38-53 days to 19-23, and by the end of 2023 it will be 14-18 days. ITTR, which promotes the development of its core corridor that includes Kazakhstan, brings together 20 railway, shipping, logistics and port companies from eight countries.
