Uruguay is worse, Frente Amplio senator says

Montevideo, Mar 3 (Prensa Latina) The senator for the Frente Amplio (FA) Alejandro Sánchez considers today that Uruguay is in a worse situation, in contrast to what President Luis Lacalle Pou stated in his speech the day before in the General Assembly of the Parliament.

On this occasion, he recounted a list of achievements and promises fulfilled. For the legislator, it seems that the president lives in another country, according to his Twitter account.

Uruguay changed to worse and there is no speech that can hide it. In 2022, 66 thousand people went into poverty in relation to 2019, of which 21 thousand are underage, he wrote.

He added that since 2019, the number doubled for those who went to the Ministry of Social Development to avoid sleeping in the streets.

In addition, Sanchez stressed that the salary in 2022 was 3.7 percent lower than in 2019, while in January 2022, retirements and pensions only increased 6.16 percent, and ‘consumer goods prices grew 7.96 percent’.

I want to live in the country of Luis (Lacalle Pou), the one he refers to in his speeches, because in the country where most Uruguayans live, poverty and fuels have increased, salaries and pensions have decreased and there are more homeless’, the FA senator said.
