This legal action includes, together with the former de facto governor, other defendants in the criminal case Golpe de Estado I.
They are Flavio Gustavo Arce, Álvaro Coímbra, Álvaro Rodrigo Guzmán and Jorge Pastor Mendieta, according to the document. The judges rejected the request for the cessation of the preventive detention of Áñez and the other defendants in this case, which was requested by the legal defense.
In Golpe de Estado I, Áñez is charged for the massacres of Senkata, in El Alto, and Sacaba, in Cochabamba, which resulted in nearly 40 deaths, hundreds of wounded and thousands imprisoned and tortured.
Áñez is serving a sentence of 10 years in prison in the first instance for the case Golpe de Estado II, a trial that analyzed the unconstitutional way she used to become head of the Senate and later of the State.
As part of the case Golpe de Estado I, the authorities are also investigating the governor of Santa Cruz, Luis Fernando Camacho, arrested and preventively imprisoned since December 30, 2022 in the maximum security prison of Chonchocoro, department of La Paz.
Camacho is charged in this case for alleged terrorism as the main promoter of the plot that forced the resignation of President Evo Morales and led to the subsequent crimes.
