Dominican-Haitian border wall is behind schedule

Dominican-Haitian border wall is behind schedule

Santo Domingo, Mar 13 (Prensa Latina) The questioned Dominican Republic-Haitian border wall is behind schedule, with only 7.3% of work completed, local press reported on Monday.

The work, presented by Dominican President Luis Abinader, should have been 25% completed at this moment but unfortunately it was not possible, the Diario Libre newspaper said.

At the National Congress, Abinader stated: ‘In order to develop a border security system, 7.30% of a programmed 25% was done’.

The border wall will allow more efficient control of bilateral trade, regulate migratory flows and thus help to crack down on human trafficking mafias, deal with drug trafficking and the illegal sale of arms, as well as protect livestock and crops of cattle ranchers and agricultural producers.
