In a statement issued here, the PA made public its ‘rejection and repudiation’ of the ‘imminent’ slaughter of these animals decided by the Animal Welfare Institute and the Ministry of Livestock, Agriculture and Fisheries.
The Platform subscribed that according to the information available, the argument to sacrifice around 300 seized animals is for ‘sanitary reasons’.
It affirmed that these animals are ‘lizards, snakes, parrots and other birds, even monkeys’ and turtles, although the latter will survive.
The statement questions whether this is the protocol to be used for each seizure. We hope that the decision will change’, concludes the statement signed by activist Karina Kokar.
The Animal Platform is a network of 32 animal protection organizations from all over the country.
