Several interventions addressed Cuba’s situation, under the impact of the blockade, in a forum that reviewed the activities of last year and the financial state of the oldest organization of solidarity with Cuba in France, with more than six decades of work, one of the oldest of its kind in the world.
The meeting scheduled until tomorrow, with the participation of delegates from different departments, will elect the Bureau, the Steering Committee and the Presidency of the association, which, as every year, will issue a final declaration of support to the Caribbean country and a condemnation against the US’s blockade.
Regarding Washington’s aggressive policy, the plenary assembly agreed to support a European petition launched by the “Cuba Coopération France” association (CubaCoop) with a call to action against the extraterritoriality of the blockade and its consequences.
The initiative, also backed up by Spanish and Italian organizations, demands the European Union and the governments of its member countries, not to give in to pressures and to apply their legal mechanisms so that banks and companies can have relations with the island without fear of the U.S. sanctions.
France Cuba discussed the results of
During the first day of the forum held in Saint Denis, in the region of Paris,the France Cuba Association discussed the results of its activities in 2022, from solidarity actions to its participation in events during 2022.
Among the actions highlighted in that meeting, were: the donation of 200 kilograms of medicines; the sending of money in response to the fire at Matanzas Supertanker Terminal and the devastating passage of Hurricane Ian; statements condemning the blockade, and the demand for Cuba’s removal from the unilateral list of countries sponsoring terrorism.
