The news came out in the middle of an investigation into the fatal accident of February 28 in the city of Larisa, where 57 people were killed.
The investigation reviewed the preparation and theoretical and practical guidelines given to the station manager of that town, who is under arrest and awaiting trial for alleged negligence and reckless homicide, according to information from the AMNA news agency.
The Greek national railroad company could face a daily fine of 100,000 euros unless it takes steps to ensure that the station chiefs’ preparation, and the training program is reformed and meets current standards, according to the governing body.
