Russian air defense shoots down several drones north of Crimea

Moscow, Mar 21 (Prensa Latina) The governor of the Russian Republic of Crimea, Sergei Aksionov, reported that several drones were shot down by the air defense of the peninsula of the Dzhankoi in the north region.

As the official reported to Sputnik news agency, remains of the unmanned aircraft fell on some homes, where a resident was injured.

In turn, the adviser to the head of the Republic of Crimea, Oleg Kriuchkov, reported on Telegram that all the drones were aimed at civilian facilities; one of them was shot down over a technical school and the rest over residential neighborhoods. Kryuchkov added that each of the downed drones was carrying explosives and shrapnel.

Since Russia launched its military operation in Ukraine in February 2022, several border regions, including Belgorod, in Kursk, as well as the Crimean peninsula, have suffered material damage and civilian casualties as a result of the impact of projectiles and drones launched from Ukrainian territory.

A dozen airports in the south of the European part of Russia remain closed due to the threat of enemy attacks and terrorist activities.
