Bolivian chamber leader denounces interference for lithium and water

La Paz, Mar 22 (Prensa Latina) The president of the Chamber of Deputies of Bolivia, Jerjes Mercado, denounced the threats of interfering States against lithium and water of the Altiplano country, highlighted today the web portal of that legislative body.

Our position is clear, we want to denounce the continuous interference of external states and powers that put world peace at risk’, he assured.

Mercado warned that these actors violate the United Nations Charter and act according to their own interests, to the point of promoting the overthrow of constitutional governments.

Recently, the head of the US Southern Command, four-star general, Laura Richardson, expressed that China ‘expands its influence’ in Latin America and the Caribbean and ‘manipulates’ its governments through ‘predatory investment practices’, in allusion to a very favorable agreement for Bolivia with a company of that Asian nation.

Speaking at the second conference of the Parliamentary Network of the Non-Aligned Movement in Manama, Bahrain, Mercado insisted on the threatening attitude of some world powers against the so-called lithium triangle -Argentina, Bolivia and Chile- and Bolivian fresh water.
