Pension reform is an issue of discord in Uruguay

Montevideo, Mar 22 (Prensa Latina) The pension reform proposed by the Uruguayan Government is currently an issue of discord with the unions and the opposition Broad Front (Frente Amplio-FA), but also within the government´s coalition.

This is how the discussion goes on the eve of a partial strike and rally of the PIT-CNT Union Central against this project that a commission of lawmakers is discussing, and the Senate previously has approved.

This Thursday, the union members will rally at 18 de Julio Avenue in front of the esplanade of the University of the Republic and later march to the Legislative Palace, where there will be a protest act.

About this issue, pro-government lawmakers met with senior officials of the Ministry of Economy and Finance on Tuesday to settle differences.
