Travelers in Cuba consider La Guira as a magical place

Pinar del Río, Cuba, Mar 22 (Prensa Latina) Many European travelers today consider La Güira a magical place, a farm in western Cuba with many beauties and history, according to local guides.

The former Hacienda Cortina in Cuba (the name can still be seen on its entrance gate), is now La Güira farm, and constitutes a paradise of nature, conservation of scenery and a landscape of universal culture.

Located in the province of Pinar del Río, this place has as a very particular visual attraction an entrance reminiscent of medieval castles, as conceived by its original owner, a Cuban politician, writer and lawyer with that surname.

José Manuel Cortina created an emporium of nature and cultural enrichment that is preserved and protected, with the current possibility of visits by both Cubans and foreigners.

In December 2014 the place was reopened, near San Diego de los Baños, the Cueva de Los Portales, eastern gateway to that territory, with various styles, including the idea of reproducing the Palace of Versailles, France.

It is a unique place, with several restaurants, stone paths, sculptures of different origins, a truly wonderful landscape that illustrates the nature of the archipelago and allows contact with the well-preserved environment.

From the welcoming sign to the park, in La Güira, you can appreciate great tourist attractions, with an original name (Hacienda Cortina) stamped in gold on the gate, and a small bell, which the guardian of the place rings every time a group enters.

Cortina, besides being a politician and landowner, had a delicate taste for universal culture and nature, and he tried to represent it. When the Cuban Revolution triumphed in 1959, the owner himself opened the farm to the leader, Fidel Castro, and gave him the place, which would be made available to anyone who wanted to visit it. On September 20, 1959, a new history began in this same space for retreat.

Japanese and Chinese symbols are also preserved there, and from other places, which the wealthy man brought back from his travels and incorporated into both the houses and the rest of the garden.

In December 2014 it reopened as La Güira Park, after a reconstruction, with most of its cultural and nature flow recovered.

Finally, the land currently exhibits nine rest rooms, the Red House as a kind of museum, folder, restaurants, bars, cafeterias, barbecue, parking, swimming pool, game room, amphitheater, parks, museum and mini zoo. All this together with boat rides, nature trails, and bird watching areas, all in perfect harmony.
