Honduras demanded end to US blockade of Cuba at Ibero-American Summit

Santo Domingo, Mar 25 (Prensa Latina) The President of Honduras, Xiomara Castro, demanded here today the end of the economic, commercial and financial blockade imposed by the United States against Cuba for more than six decades.

When speaking at the high-level segment of the 28th Ibero-American Summit, the Head of State assured that Washington’s unilateral measure against the Caribbean island is a crime against humanity.

The president described this US policy as unfair and failed, since it affects the Cuban people and leaves no results for those who apply it.

In the same way, she demanded to eliminate the blockade policies applied against other Latin American nations such as Venezuela and Nicaragua.

In this sense, she described as shameful the role of the powers that in managing “absurd sanctions for the countries of the region that, if they do not obey their recipes, then blockades and coups d’état are planned.”

“I am convinced that this Ibero-American Summit will end with the proposal to strengthen Latin American integration systems, requesting an end to the blockades against Latin American countries (…)”, she stated.

On the other hand, the ruler called to combat the piracy imposed with the so-called model cities and asked the globalized world to stop the overexploitation of the natural resources of nations.
