Lazo described as a victory of the Cuban people the vote of 6,164,876 voters, a figure that represents 75.92 percent of more than 8,120,000 summoned to the polls.
The parliament speaker, who is also the president of the Council of State, considered that the exercise of vote was ‘a true demonstration of civism, popular participation and socialist democracy.’
Foreign Minister Bruno Rodriguez, in turn, celebrated in a tweet the results which, according to him, ratified the Cuban people’s decision to continue to resist, fight and advance in the Revolution.
Preliminary statistics from the National Electoral Council (CEN) indicate the election of all the candidates proposed to integrate the 10th Legislature, as well as a higher voter turnout than in recent previous elections.
