For this process, there is a refueling station and a bus for 50 passengers with which 1,083 tons of carbon dioxide emissions are expected to be reduced during the duration of the program.
Through these initiatives we will materialize the fair energy transition, Minister of Mines and Energy Irene Velez said.
She pointed out that the bus will not be the only one that will operate in the streets of the city, because they are working for other public service vehicles to use this clean energy.
For operations, the solar photovoltaic recharging system will ensure that the hydrogen generated to power the bus is 100-percent green.
Bogota Mayor Claudia Lopez said that the electric playground will not only be the largest in Latin America but the first in Colombia, with the capacity to charge a hydrogen bus for the city and the whole country.
The equipment, which has a fuel cell and a battery, will transport more than 98,500 passengers a year and will consume hydrogen to generate electric energy, which will allow an autonomy of more than 450 kilometers with a single refueling a day and a maximum speed of 90 kilometers per hour, the specialists explained.
