The drug was discovered in a joint operation carried out at a checkpoint in the aforementioned province by members of the Army.
The military stopped a driver of a crane and in the presence of a prosecutor and anti-narcotics agents, they carried out the inspection protocol to the vehicle and found 63 packages of the drug hidden in the lower part of the crane.
The driver was arrested together with another man who accompanied him. Both are in the custody of the Public Prosecutor’s Office of Azua, for coercive measures for violation of the law on drugs and controlled substances.
The DNCD and other official agencies are expanding the investigations in relation to the case, while the packages of the leaves were sent under chain of custody to the National Institute of Forensic Sciences for the corresponding purposes.
