Villa-Clara-celebraciones-UJC-OPJM-500x375
Santa Clara, Cuba, Apr 4 (Prensa Latina) More than 6,000 young people gathered on Tuesday at the Comandante Ernesto Che Guevara Sculpture Complex in this province to celebrate the anniversaries of Cuban youth organizations.

In the main event on the 61st anniversary of the Jose Marti Pioneers’ Organization (OPJM) and the 62nd anniversary of the Young Communist League (UJC), people and institutions that stood out at national level during the past year were recognized, and 61 youths joined the UJC and 30 joined the Communist Party of Cuba (PCC), as a sign of revolutionary continuity.

UJC First Secretary of the National Committee Aylin Alvarez reaffirmed the youths’ commitment to continue the revolutionary process promoted by Cuba.

We are proud to be part of this generation, which leaves a deep imprint in the sectors where they work, amid the United States blockade, which was intensified in recent years with the aim of subverting the Cuban socialist project, she said.

Alvarez highlighted the contribution of young people to obtain scientific achievements such as the development of homegrown vaccines against Covid-19, as well as their voluntary contribution in the care of patients in isolation centers and in red zones during the Covid-19 pandemic.

She also highlighted the participation of young people in the fight against the consequences of serious accidents and climatic events that recently occurred in Cuba, and their contribution in areas such as sports, defense, social, and in different electoral processes carried out in Cuba in the last six months.
