Cuba congratulates youths on anniversaries of their organizations

Havana, Apr 4 (Prensa Latina) Cuban President Miguel Diaz-Canel on Tuesday congratulated the members of the Jose Marti Pioneers' Organization (OPJM) and the Young Communist League (UJC) on the occasion of the their 62nd and 61st anniversaries, respectively.

On his Twitter account, the Cuban leader described these organizations as the hope and future of the nation.

“We come from @OPJMCuba and @UJCdeCuba and we feel part of you,” he wrote.

Foreign Minister Bruno Rodriguez and other Communist Party of Cuba (PCC) and Government leaders also congratulated the pioneers and young Cubans on their day.

You make the dream of having #ABetterYouth (#UnaMejorJuventud) come true, unyielding in its revolutionary commitment and forging the present and future of the Homeland, Rodriguez tweeted.

Established in 1962, the Young Communist League (UJC) was preceded by the Association of Young Rebels, and is considered the vanguard political organization of Cuban youths, as it is the main source of PCC members.

The pioneers’ organization brings together students of primary and secondary education and, among other functions, it works in a prioritized manner to develop interest in studying and a sense of social responsibility of its members.
