During a simple but emotional event, Cuban children who reside here received in a symbolic way from their parents the blue scarf that students wear up until the third grade of primary education, and the red one up to the sixth grade.
According to Cuban Ambassador Carlos Lefebre, the event served to bring minors who live far from their country closer to this tradition, which is a reason for celebration for Cuban students.
Established in 1962, the Young Communist League (UJC) was preceded by the Association of Young Rebels, and is considered the vanguard political organization of Cuban youths, as it is the main source of PCC members.
The pioneers’ organization brings together students of primary and secondary education and, among other functions, it works in a prioritized manner to develop interest in studying and a sense of social responsibility of its members.
