They managed to rescue two people alive and another two remain trapped, reported the Provincial Government of People’s Power in Matanzas on its Facebook account.

Leonel Pérez was the first to be rescued, he has a fracture in his left leg and is currently being treated at the Faustino Pérez hospital.

According to the information, bricks are removed from inside the chimney to search for the other two workers, Lázaro Montero and Alexis Labrada.

In the provincial hospital of the city, all conditions are ready to receive patients.

The incident occurred while the men were working in the lower part of the chimney -in the area known as an ashtray- where they extracted soot and carried out other cleaning tasks, when the partition, a wall seven meters high, collapsed.

The workers belong to the Company Specialized in Repair and Maintenance of Chimneys and work in high places, of the Ministry of Construction.

The emergency service, the Fire Department, officials from the Ministry of Energy and Mines, as well as the first secretary of the Party in the western province, Susely Morfa, and Governor Mario Sabines, are at the scene.
