Cuba marks World Health Day by sharing successes

Havana, Apr 7 (Prensa Latina) Cuba marks World Health Day on Friday by sharing its achievements in the international arena with a message of altruism, solidarity, and humanitarianism.

Cuba’s successes in health do not remain in the nation; they go beyond national borders, as we have groups of doctors, nurses, and other healthcare experts working in several countries, Deputy Public Health Minister Carilda Peña said.

Peña reminded that Cuba sent 53 brigades to 42 countries during the most severe stage of the Covid-19 pandemic.

Cuba has a free, accessible, universal healthcare system that does not discriminate against race or creed and covers the entire national territory from ministerial to primary levels.

The deputy minister regretted the damage caused by the economic, commercial, and financial blockade imposed by the United States on this sector, which deprives it of medical instruments, consumables, supplies, medicines, and other resources necessary for the provision of healthcare while highlighting the support of the national pharmaceutical industry in the preservation of mental and physical health of the people.
