Italian Minister takes stepped-up actions for better health system

Rome, Apr 9 (Prensa Latina) Italy's Health Minister Orazio Schillaci on Sunday announced his government will launch new measures to improve the country´s health system, such as establishing e-medical records and promoting community health houses.

In statements made during a Sunday´s interview published by the Il Gazzettino newspaper, Minister Schillaci referred to “a restart of health care following dramatic stop triggered by Covid-19”.

Regarding the general plan, the Italian minister said it has several stages till being completed in 2026, and sets forth an improved territorial medicine by establishing community health houses as well as encouraging telemedicine, “the digitalization of healthcare as a way to overcome inequalities related to where you live”.

As many as 1,350 community health houses will be established and incentives are being studied to attract young doctors to collaborate.

The Italian Health Minister further expressed, “we will carry out an awareness campaign aimed at suggesting the elderly, the over-65s to get vaccinated against Covid-19, as it is done annually for influenza”, although he cleared up that “it will be an information and awareness campaign, without commitment”.
