French actor Gérard Depardieu accused of sexual violence by 13 women

Paris, Apr 11 (Prensa Latina) French star Gérard Depardieu is presently being accused by 13 women of sexual violence, in particular on the set of eleven films released between 2004 and 2022.

After a remarkable debut in the 1970s, the 74-year-old actor starred in numerous films. He quickly gained international recognition. Indeed, he achieved unforgettable performances in films such as The Last Metro (1980), Jean de Florette (1986), Cyrano de Bergerac (1990), or even 1492, the blockbuster directed by Ridley Scott.

According to an investigation revealed by Mediapart on April 11, 2023, thirteen women declared that they had been victims of sexual assault from Gerard Depardieu. The facts would have taken place between 2004 and 2022. They would have mainly taken place on film sets or in outdoor locations. As a reminder, the French actor was indicted for rape and sexual assault in December 2020. This legal procedure was launched by actress Charlotte Arnould who filed a complaint for rape against Gérard Depardieu.

For the moment, the alleged victims have simply testified to the acts they allegedly suffered during the attacks. Several have thus declared that the actor had proceeded to touch them (hand placed at the level of the crotch, in the panties, on the buttocks or the breasts). Others claimed that Gérard Depardieu had made indecent sexual remarks to them. None have filed complaints to date. According to Le Monde, the 74-year-old actor “formally denies all the charges likely to fall under criminal law”. He did not wish to speak on the facts of which he is accused for the moment.
