Demand to declare emergency in Costa Rica due to wave of violence

San José, Apr 19 (Prensa Latina) The Brujas Feministas collective called for a demonstration to demand the declaration of a National Emergency due to the wave of violence affecting Costa Rica and to demand justice for the baby Keibril and her mother.

The leader of that group, Melissa Chinchilla, specified that next Saturday they will gather to demand justice for Keibril and her mother, a minor whose identity and integrity we protect, a victim of rape in view of the negligence of the State and the society.

The disappearance of the little girl since last day 9 has Costa Ricans in suspense and the main suspect is her father (already confirmed by a DNA test), stepfather of the minor under 13 years of age who was pregnant by this subject when she was 12 years old. and that on the day of the events he took her from his arms and it is still unknown where he left her.

Since Monday of the previous week, this subject was arrested and the search for the baby began in the possible places where he would have left her abandoned, with the intention of avoiding a DNA test that had to be carried out last Wednesday to verify if he was the father of Keibril, as already demonstrated.

Police and press investigations have revealed that different entities, from the hospital where the minor was born, the school and even relatives, denounced that the possible father of the baby would be the stepfather, and point to the Prosecutor’s Office and the National Board of Children (PANI) for not having acted promptly in this matter.

The call by the Brujas Feministas collective, published on social networks, states that they are also outraged by the resolution of the case of María Tacsan and the obstacles in the process to obtain justice for María Cedeño, the more than a thousand days without ruling on the double femicide of Fernanda and Raisha, and the disappearance of Kristel and Nahomy, among other cases.

Also, he continues, the imminent wave of violence against women, social insecurity, organized crime and structural machismo in our society.

For all these reasons, the Collective invites “to demand the declaration of a NATIONAL EMERGENCY for violence against women so that the State and the Government allocate the necessary efforts and resources to stop the escalation of this scourge and execute justice promptly and in real time for the imminent victims of this atrocious reality”.

Likewise, they invite public and private State entities, government officials, ministries and the President of the Republic to accompany them in this demonstration and offer their support and their demand for justice.

“It is necessary to demand accountability from all parties involved in both the investigation processes and in delivering justice. We reiterate our national emergency cry for violence against women and we ask for justice for Keibril. Children must be respected and GIRLS SHOULD BE GIRLS, NO MOTHERS!” concludes the call.
