China evacuates its citizens from Sudan

Beijing, Apr 24 (Prensa Latina) China announced on Monday that it has begun evacuating more than 1,500 of its citizens who live in Sudan due to the intense armed clashes between the Army and the Rapid Support Forces.

According to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, its diplomatic mission will also do its best to protect the entities established in the African country as long as the conflict continues. A Foreign Ministry official revealed Sunday that President Xi Jinping had given precise instructions to ensure the safety of Chinese citizens and companies and asked them to stay in touch and report any problem.

Since last week, China’s authorities have been gathering information from compatriots in Sudan considering evacuating them in light of the deteriorating security, where violent clashes have left more than 400 dead.

Beijing also called to end the hostilities that broke out on April 15, plunged the country into chaos, and wounded more than 3,500 people.
