Argentina: the destabilizing pressure and the IMF’s trap

Buenos Aires, Apr 26 (Prensa Latina) Six months before the general elections, Argentina is living today a complex situation generated by the strong destabilizing pressure, attributed to right-wing groups that intend to provoke an economic, political and social crisis.

During the last days, the value of the US dollar registered a record growth in the informal market and reached 490 Argentine pesos for sale.

This scenario had as background the spreading rumors about the continuity of the Minister of Economy Sergio Massa in his position, alleged differences with the President of the Central Bank Miguel Pesce and the supposed refusal of the International Monetary Fund (IMF) to consider a revision of the agreement in view of the severe drought affecting this nation.

It was also known that former officials Hernan Lacunza, Guido Sandleris and Alfonso Prat (from the administration of former President Mauricio Macri) took steps to prevent Argentina from obtaining advances on loans from that organization until another government took office.

In addition, it was necessary to intervene and investigate companies such as Max Capital S.A. for disseminating false information to all its clients about an eventual devaluation of the Argentine peso and the possible replacement of Massa.

The same as always are speculating in order to sink the country into a crater, generate an exchange rate run and justify the barbarities they intend to do if they come to power, said the general secretary of the Argentine Workers’ Central and deputy of the Frente de Todos (FdT), Hugo Yasky.

There are very powerful groups that want to move the table to see if everything falls down and a deep social crisis occurs. That is the scenario they need to justify the horrors of Milei, Patricia Bullrich and Macri (Together for Change). They discuss how to disarm our people, he added.

For his part, the leader of the General Confederation of Labor, Hector Daer, warned about the harmful consequences of these attacks for wage earners and assured they will support the country’s leadership in confronting operations and discourses that harm the poorest sectors.
