At a summit of the organization in New Delhi, the minister also expressed his country’s commitment to the strengthening of SCO to effectively address common challenges. He also assured that the government of India wishes to further enhance the spirit of trust and cooperation between the nations comprising this group.
In his keynote address at the event, Singh stressed the need to focus on the common agenda to ensure a secure, stable and prosperous region. He also confirmed that India considers the SCO an important entity to promote cooperation. He also reiterated that his country maintains great cultural and civilized ties with the member nations of the organization, while highlighting the exchanges of ideas and goods that has always existed between these States, which, as he said, has benefited nations economically and culturally.
According to the medias, the defense ministers of India, Russia, China, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan and Uzbekistan, member nations of the SCO, are discussing in New Delhi the pressing challenges of security and regional peace, among other issues. The situation in Afghanistan will also be on the table during the gathering.
India is chairing the SCO for the first time since it became a full member of this organization in 2017.
