More solidarity with Cuba to face hostile U.S. blockade

Havana, May 2 (Prensa Latina) Faced with the U.S. blockade and reinforced coercive measures, the solidarity with Cuba is continuing to grow, the President of the Cuban Institute of Friendship with the Peoples (ICAP) Fernando González claimed on Tuesday.

The ICAP leader referred to fierce media campaign to discredit Cuba as he spoke before over 1,000 international delegates and around 200 national delegates attending the International Meeting of Solidarity with Cuba held at the Havana International Conference Center (HICC).

Global solidarity with Cuba has grown to the same extent that our people are heroically facing up measures and steps imposed by their stubborn executioner, Fernando González stated, while recalling that the solidarity movement is made up of over 1,600 organizations based in 150 nations.

The meeting also focused its attention on anti-imperialism 200 years after the proclamation of the Monroe Doctrine that is currently “interpreted as one of the guiding principles of the imperialist U.S. policy to break up nations´ unity, especially in Latin America and the Caribbean,” González added.

González expressed his gratitude for delegates´ calls in favor of “Cuba´s exclusion from the spurious list of states sponsoring terrorism and for the end to aggressive US escalation” as well as the return of the illegally-occupied Guantánamo Bay.
