Cuba and Serbia to strengthen relations in health care

Belgrade, May 4 (Prensa Latina) Serbian Minister of Health Danica Grujičić on Thursday received Cuban Ambassador in Belgrade Leyde Rodriguez, with whom she discussed the potential to develop bilateral ties in that sector.

The diplomat stated that Cuba is most willing to establish mutually beneficial cooperation in various programs, including the biopharmaceutical industry, and expressed interest in learning about the experiences accumulated in Serbia in the healthcare sector.

Grujičić thanked the Cuban diplomat for briefing her about Cuba’s healthcare system and highlighted the achievements in this sector despite the economic, commercial and financial blockade imposed by the United States for more than 60 years.

The minister thanked Rodriguez for the heartfelt words of condolence expressed at the beginning of the meeting on the occasion of the tragic events that occurred on Wednesday at a school in this capital, where a 14-year-old adolescent opened fire with his father’s pistol and killed nine people and injured several persons.

As a result of these events, the Serbian Government decreed three days of mourning and the suspension of teaching activities.
