Julian Assange invites King Charles III to visit Belmarsh prison

Julian-Assange-500x263
London, May 6 (Prensa Latina) WikiLeaks founder Julian Assange, held at His Majesty's Prison Belmarsh, urged King Charles III to visit the penitentiary institution after his coronation ceremony, which was attended by which 200,000 guests on Saturday.

Assange, who wrote a letter to the monarch, was taken by force from the Ecuadorian Embassy in April 2019, where he was under the protection of the Government of that country, and was imprisoned in the aforementioned prison.

“I implore you, King Charles III, to visit His Majesty’s Prison Belmarsh, for it is an honor befitting a king,” said the Australian journalist, who at the time leaked thousands of documents about secret actions by the United States and other Western powers.

“On the coronation of my liege, I thought it only fitting to extend a heartfelt invitation to you to commemorate this momentous occasion by visiting your own kingdom within a kingdom: His Majesty’s Prison Belmarsh,” Assange wrote.

The WikiLeaks founder also noted that 687 of the King’s loyal subjects are being held in that prison, supporting the United Kingdom’s record as the nation with the largest prison population in Western Europe.
