Ukraine launches over 10 drones to attack Crimea

Moscow, May 7 (Prensa Latina) Sevastopol Gov. Mikhail Razvozhayev on Sunday reported Ukrainian Armed Forces launched more than 10 drones overnight on the Crimean Peninsula, including three on the port of Sevastopol, a Russian-installed official said, while adding that air defense systems repelled all the attacks.

As reported on Telegram by Razvozhayev, none drones hit targets or buildings, being either intercepted or destroyed by anti-aircraft defense.

The governor specified that one of the drones went out of control and crashed into a wooded area. Later on, It was found by personnel of the Ministries of Interior and Emergency Situations.

A second drone was shot down over the sea near Cape Chersonese, and the third one over the waters close to the northern breakwater of Sevastopol Bay.

Razvozhayev added that none of the drones launched against the Crimean Peninsula and Sevastopol affected facilities and services, and the authorities remain in control of the situation.

The Crimean Peninsula and the port of Sevastopol, home to the Russian Black Sea Fleet, have been target of a great number of Kyiv´s attacks since the start of Russia’s special military operation in eastern Ukraine.

During the military operation, Russian forces took control of Zaporozhie and Kherson regions which became part of the Russian Federation, along with the self-proclaimed republics of Donetsk and Lugansk. Since March 2014, Crimea and Sevastopol, after holding referendums, separated from Ukraine and decided on joining the Russian Federation. pll/mem/gfa
