cordovi2
San Jose, Apr 11 (Prensa Latina) Yoel Cordoví, president of the Cuban History Institute, lectured in Costa Rica on Ethics and Revolution in Máximo Gómez and Antonio Maceo, with which he aroused the audience's interest.

Members of the accredited diplomatic staff, Cuban in-state missions, and Cuban residents in this country, as well as Costa Ricans, listened to Cordoví’s speech at the Cuban Embassy, who also answered several questions on issues related to the lecture and other historical events.

Focused on Major General Máximo Gómez and Lieutenant General Antonio Maceo, the leading figures of the Cuban Liberation Army for Independence from Spain in the second half of the 19th century, the historian described how both warriors showed their talents.

In addition to asking several questions, the participants highlighted the keynote lecture the Cuban historian gave and his deep knowledge of all related to that military conflict and the struggle for Cuba’s independence from Spain.

Cuban Ambassador to Costa Rica, Jorge Rodríguez, said that Cordoví’s speech took place on the anniversary of the death in combat of Major Gen Ignacio Agramonte, known as El Mayor, on May 11, 1873.

Cordoví arrived in Costa Rica on April 30 invited by the National University in Guanacaste province to lecture on pedagogy and on Antonio Maceo.
