Cuba begins National Week against Fires

Havana, May 15 (Prensa Latina) Cuba begins on Monday, the National Week against Fires, in order to strengthen its security system against those events and promote a culture of prevention in the population.

Educational and prophylactic activities will be carried out to promote a massive movement against fires.

According to the Ministry of the Interior, the national week against fire begins with an act in the western Mayabeque province. Other activities will be developed in parallel in the provinces of the country, including the Isle of Youth, a special municipality.

Taking advantage of the “Voluntary Forces Day” on May 16th, a videoconference will be held on the state of fire protection in the Ministry of Transportation and the Ministry of Food Industry, as well as the celebration of the provincial brigade competitions against fire.

On May 17, a tribute will be paid, at the Isasi Hardware Store disaster, in Old Havana in 1890, to those who have fallen in the line of duty, also videoconferences will be held on the state of protection in several institutions.

The week will end with a drill in Artemisa province on May 21.
