Havana, May 19 (Prensa Latina) The Presidency of the Republic informed on Friday that Cuban President Miguel Diaz-Canel stressed the country will only be able to overcome the complex situation it is going through with its own efforts, despite the blockade imposed by the United States.

In statements to reporters, the head of State noted that it was one of the premises of the meetings held in 14 provinces to assess the goals set in January 2023.

He explained that the cycle of meetings was based on the objective of “overcoming the difficult situation that the country is going through in the shortest possible time, as part of this economic and social crisis that we had already predicted that we had to face since the Covid-19, and towards which the world was evolving.”

He added that the main issues analyzed were food production, energy, services to the population, the fight against crime and corruption.

Although there is still one province (Ciego de Avila) and the Isla de la Juventud special municipality to be visited, it could be appreciated that there is will, commitment and initiative, he stressed.

“Therefore, there is no defeatism, there is willingness, there is understanding,” Diaz-Canel pointed out.

The head of State described the analyses as very critical and self-critical, and stressed that there were no sweetened reports, nor complacency.

Diaz-Canel pointed out that there is still much dissatisfaction, since an important group of indicators have not been met.

He commented that the meetings analyzed the potential of the territories and the positive experiences of groups and institutions, which brought the challenge of thinking about how to multiply these in the shortest possible time.

He noted that the check-up meetings provided the possibility of analyzing and reflecting on different concepts, in a didactic way, and also contributed “visions from the territories, on issues that we must address in a different, more intense and proactive way” to the country’s leadership.

The Cuban president informed that there will be another tour of all Cuban provinces in September, and affirmed that he is convinced that there will be more results then.

He highlighted the progress made to improve gradually basic situations that affect the people, such as the stability of the National Power System.

“I believe that in this capacity to face adversity and to achieve results, to consolidate, victories will come, and new victories will generate new victories,” he stressed.
