President Díaz-Canel welcomes the International Biodiversity Day

Havana, May 22 (Prensa Latina) Cuban President Miguel Díaz-Canel on Monday welcomed the International Day for Biological Biodiversity (IDB), a date celebrated in Cuba with challenges and commitments to protect biodiversity.

On Twitter, the Cuban leader praised his country is characterized by impressive biodiversity figures including the existence of 1,500 species of butterflies, over 60 species of amphibians, 150 reptiles, nearly 400 birds and over 7,000 plants.

In order for all human beings to live in a more sustainable world, it is critical to roll out urgent measures to protect and preserve all ecosystems, as well as the biological diversity that inhabits them, according to the UN.
