Havana, May 25 (Prensa Latina) Training human resources and providing excellent medical care backed by the new scientific advances in Hematology and Immunology in Cuba are among the future plans of both specialties.

Immunology is a specialty that has gained a lot of international recognition as a result of the Covid-19 pandemic, caused by the SARS-Cov-2 virus, Francisco Sotomayor, first-degree expert in Clinical Genetics and Immunology told Prensa Latina.

His level of prominence rose in clinical trials linked to coronavirus vaccines, Sotomayor emphasized after participating in the IX Cuban Congress of Hematology 2023 that concluded a few days ago at the Havana Convention Center.

One of the projections is the training of human resources, which is born in the Institute of Basic Sciences and Pre-Clinical Victoria de Girón, where the quarry of our specialty is developed and each year provides its contribution in the preparation of the continuity of the personal future. doctor.

In the biotechnology industry, many immunologists actively participate in the development of immunotherapies and treatments for cancer and those linked to different immune diseases, there are also advances in monoclonal antibodies used in the aforementioned ailments.

The most recent are the results in vaccines against Covid-19, and this is largely due to the strength achieved by the industry that is dedicated to this type of injectables.

Today Cuba is at a top point in the scientific community in Latin America and the Caribbean, there is no doubt that Cuban science has an important place in this area, but above all it has the recognition of the World Health Organization.
