Russian units capture Ukrainian paratroopers in Belogorovka

Moscow, May 29 (Prensa Latina) Russian forces captured 23 Ukrainian paratroopers in Belogorovka, in the Lugansk People's Republic, reported the head of the Republic’s militias, Andrei Marochko.

As published by the officer on his Telegram channel, the prisoners belonged to the 81st Airmobile Brigade of the Ukrainian Armed Forces, who tried to carry out an operation in the vicinity of Belogorovka.

Marochko specified that the Russian assault detachments conducted several successful operations in the vicinities of the said settlement and uncovered the attempts of elements of the Ukrainian army to recover territory lost in recent days.

The prisoners of war received medical assistance and were sent to a place of detention “that complies with all the norms of international humanitarian law,” he stated.

The Russian army also occupied advantageous positions on the contact line near Belogorovka.

Marochko said earlier that the units of the Armed Forces of Ukraine switched to mobile defense, trying to probe any weaknesses in the Russian positions heading to Lugansk.
