Supreme Court of Brazil will try coup plotters

Brasilia, May 29 (Prensa Latina) The Federal Supreme Court (STF) of Brazil will try some 131 people involved in the coup acts and depredation of the government's three powers on last January 8th.

This is the sixth group of accused, totaling 1,176 out of the 1,300 complaints filed by the Attorney General’s Office,. This group is formed by those who acted as authors and instigators of the anti-democratic acts.

If the majority of the magistrates accept the complaints, the defendants will have to answer for the crimes of incitement to crime and criminal association.

So far, the STF has prosecuted 1,045 defendants.

Last week the Mixed Parliamentary Commission of Investigation into the coup events was installed.

The Commission will have 180 days to investigate the actions and may submit their results to the Attorney General’s Office in order to provide evidence for the criminal process.
