Cuban chess players to go for seven medals in San Salvador 2023

Havana, May 31 (Prensa Latina) Cuban chess players will go for seven medals during their debut in the Central American and Caribbean Games of San Salvador 2023, on Wednesday noted the president of the Cuban Federation of such discipline, Carlos Rivero.

In statements to Jit digital newspaper, Rivero confirmed the presence of Carlos Daniel Albornoz and Luis Ernesto Quesada in men’s competition, and Yaniela Forgas and Yerisbel Miranda in women’s section of the regional competition, scheduled from June 23 to July 8.

Cuban debut in regional multisport competitions is made up the leeway by counting on eight teams of two members in each sex, which will hold independent competitions.

According to the rules, both the rapid and blitz modalities will distribute independent medals according to the board defended; thus, eight titles will be at stake.

In both cases, the game will be played in a round-robin system and the decision on which player will take the first board will be made official during the technical congress of the tournament.

The actions will take place at the Hotel Terraza, from July 3 to 5, dedicated to the rapid competition (15 minutes adding 10 seconds after each move) and on July 6 to the Blitz matches (three minutes and two seconds added per move).
