The President added in a tweet that there was also a joint meeting on the matter in which Ambassador Ken Salazar and other public servants of the United States government, and that the governors of Chiapas, Tabasco, Oaxaca and Veracruz also participated.

“We advance in the good neighborhood policy with cooperation for the well-being and humanitarian treatment of migrants,” the Head of State briefly expressed in his message.

The adviser to US President Joe Biden also spoke with Foreign Minister Marcelo Ebrard and the Secretaries of Defense and Navy, Luis Cresencio Sandoval and José Rafael Ojeda Durán, respectively, among other officials of the presidential team.

The immigration issue, considered a national security matter by the United States, has become recurring in bilateral talks in light of the historical flows to the United States in recent years. It is currently estimated that there are 20 million people in forced and irregular mobility throughout to the Americas, according to sources close to the meeting.
