Venezuelan diplomats elected to UN posts

Caracas, Jun 2 (Prensa Latina) Venezuelan diplomats have been elected by acclamation to hold high posts in the United Nations General Assembly, it was reported on Friday.

The mission of the Bolivarian Republic at the multilateral organization informed on Twitter that Alternate Ambassador Joaquin Perez was elected vice president of the Fourth Committee on Special Policy and Decolonization.

Councilors Robert Poveda and John Guerra will hold the posts of rapporteur of the Third Committee on Social, Humanitarian and Cultural Affairs, and vice president of the Fourth Committee on Legal Affairs of the Organization, respectively.

Perez expressed gratitude for “the confidence placed in Venezuela” by the Fourth Committee of the UN General Assembly, representing our Latin American and Caribbean region, to continue to promote such leading causes as decolonization and the efforts to end colonialism.

The diplomatic mission affirmed that “faithful to its Bolivarian Diplomacy of Peace,” Venezuela is firmly committed to multilateralism and the United Nations.
